Liberty Steel plans to replace four tandem steel furnaces with two hybrid steel furnaces by 2023, which could reduce carbon emissions by 50%.
S. Gupta, the chairman of Liberty Steel Group, said that it was an important step for the transformation of Liberty Ostrava. The new furnaces would significantly reduce the plant's carbon emissions, which would be a big step towards green steel production.
Liberty Steel plans to invest a total of 750 million euros in the development of its Ostrava steelworks over the course of next ten years. In addition to the modernization of the steel plant, the transformation will also include an extensive modernization of the steel rolling mills, which will improve the quality of steel and expand the product portfolio with high added value products.
