Sep. 27, 2020 - ArcelorMittal stated that it will restart its No.3 blast furnace at the Tubarao plant in southeastern Brazil in mid-October after the suspension of production for six months. This was the fifth blast furnace restarted in Brazil since the COVID-19 outbreak.
After the restart completed, the plant's capacity will be fully restored, but due to the gradual recovery of steel demand in the Brazilian domestic market, the plant will not be able to produce at full capacity.
The No.3 blast furnace is the largest unit in Tubarao plant, with an annual output of 2.8 million tons of crude steel.
