Rusal America inks contract to supply Almexa with low-carbon aluminium ALLOW

2021-03-05

Mar. 5, 2021 - En+ Group announced that its subsidiary Rusal America Corporation (RAC) has signed an agreement with Mexico’s aluminium rolled product producer Almexa to deliver 100 thousand metric tons of its low-carbon primary aluminium product ALLOW.

The firm said in an emailed press release that their subsidiary had already delivered 4,800 metric tons of ALLOW to Almexa’s plant in Mexico City. En+ says the plant’s use of its low-carbon aluminium will make it among the greenest and most competitive aluminuium mills on the continent.

Brian Hesse, President and CEO of Rusal America, said that low-carbon aluminium is likely to be a major player in the coming years.

“With the growing demand for sustainable products, companies are sourcing materials that reduce the carbon footprint of their products across the entire value chain. Lightweight, durable and infinitely recyclable, aluminum is the metal of the future low-carbon economy. We are proud to partner with Almexa, a company that shares our commitment to doing the right thing, and collaborating in a true partnership that will deliver innovation, value and efficiency to its customer end-users.”

Mike Otero, CEO of Almexa and a member of the Aluminum Association’s Board of Directors, highlighted the importance of Rusal America to his firm’s growth.

“Our partnership with Rusal America has been the cornerstone of our new company growth strategy. Rusal America has helped Almexa at every step of the process – from our initial conversations, to coordinating the first loads of slab hitting the port of Veracruz, Mexico in record time. Our experience with Rusal America has been amazing from not only the product perspective, but also the delivery and technical follow-up. Almexa is proud to call Rusal America a business partner and we look forward to growing with them as we triple our output over the next 24 months.”

En+’s ALLOW aluminium produces an average of 2.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per metric ton of aluminium, less by 10 metric tons of carbon dioxide per metric ton of aluminium than the industry average.
