Bayi Iron and Steel’s low-carbon metallurgical project put into operation

Oct. 12, 2023 - On September 28, 2,500 cubic meter HyCROF (Hydrogen-enriched Carbonic oxide Recycling Oxygenate Furnace) commercial demonstration project of Bayi Iron and Steel’s low carbon metallurgy was officially put into operation. 

The commissioning of this project marks that Baowu's low-carbon metallurgical technology research and development has fully entered the commercial operation stage, which will lay the foundation for the low-carbon, efficient, low-cost and high-quality development of Bayi Iron and Steel.

The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 1 million tons annually, which is equivalent to recreating a 1,000 square kilometer forest in Xinjiang. Its operation also marks a major breakthrough for Baowu in building a source of industrial green and low-carbon original technologies.
